Markdown paste helper
Telegram apps understand their own Markdown dialect in the message input. md2tg translates standard Markdown into exactly that dialect:
| Markdown | Telegram |
|---|---|
# Heading | Bold heading line |
**bold**, *italic* | bold, italic |
`inline code` | monospace text |
``` fenced blocks ``` | code block with language |
~~strike~~, ||spoiler|| | strikethrough, hidden spoiler |
[text](url) | text (url) |
> quote | kept as "> " marker lines |
| tables | bullet cards, first field bolded |
- list, 1. list | • bullets, numbered items |
Telegram apps parse a subset of Markdown as you type or paste: **bold**, __italic__, `inline code`, ```fenced code blocks```, ~~strikethrough~~ and ||spoilers||. Links written as [text](url) and > quotes are not parsed, which is why md2tg converts links to "text (url)" and keeps quotes as "> " lines.
Paste your Markdown into the input panel, click "Copy for Telegram", then paste into any Telegram chat. Telegram renders the formatting on paste — no bots or accounts needed.
Surround the text with double asterisks **like this** and Telegram shows it bold. The same trick works for __italic__, `monospace`, ~~strikethrough~~ and ||spoilers||. md2tg converts your Markdown headings and bold text to this dialect automatically.
md2tg copies your text with real clickable links whenever the target app supports rich paste — Telegram Desktop converts copied HTML into link entities automatically. The plain fallback (for apps without rich paste) renders links as readable "text (url)", since Telegram's input does not parse [text](url) syntax. Clickable links via bots are a separate mechanism.
Yes. md2tg is a web tool that works in any modern browser on desktop and mobile, and the copy button uses the standard clipboard API.
Yes — a free REST API, no keys needed. POST your Markdown to https://md2tg.osovv.dev/api/convert and get JSON with Telegram client markdown plus Bot-API-ready HTML (parse_mode=HTML) — no MarkdownV2 escaping required. Smart splitting at the 4,096-character message limit is included.
The same converter is available as a free REST API — no keys, no signup. Send Markdown, get JSON back with the Telegram client dialect and Bot-API-ready HTML (parse_mode=HTML). No MarkdownV2 escaping required.
Example:
curl -X POST https://md2tg.osovv.dev/api/convert \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"markdown":"# Hello **world**"}'
The response includes smart splitting: "parts" contains message-sized chunks below the 4,096-character limit.
